The Important Thing About Principals
Tuesday, May 22, 2007
In celebration of Principal’s Day, our class rewrote the Important Book by Margaret Wise Brown.  The students were learning about sentence fluency and this book is an excellent model.  The students collaboratively worked on rewriting the book, illustrating it, and reading it with fluency and expression.  Students were paired and the choral reading was recorded.

All About Me
Tuesday, May 22, 2007
The All About Me books were the first individually published books of the 2006-2007 school year.  The students were guided through the writing process as the six traits  of good writing were introduced to them.  Although all students published a book, only two books were selected to podcast.  Please listen and enjoy while these young authors begin to find their own unique writer’s voice.

Apple Writing
Tuesday, May 22, 2007
The students worked on their Apple stories during the months of November and December.  Focus lessons on the writing process and/or one of the six traits of writing were reinforced during this Apple Writing publication.  While all students published a story, three were selected as a representative sample of the entire class.  Please listen and watch the exciting process as these beginning authors emerge!
